Airplane!

You may have noticed that in recent Zoe pictures she is often looking up at the sky like this:

And pointing up towards the sky like this:

What accompanies those poses is always a shout exclaiming "airplane!". Or as she pronounces "airpane".

Zoe is obsessed with airplanes right now. As soon as we get into the car she says "Watching airplanes?" and that means she wants me to open the sunroof so she can watch for airplanes in the sky. We're in the area of a small airport in Addison (North Dallas) so we often hear airplanes fly over. Zoe yells "airplane!" every time one flies over. What's funny about it is that even if Zoe is in the middle of crying she'll stop momentarily to point to the sky and yell "airplane!" then she'll continue with the crying.

She's like Tattoo from the old TV show Fantasy Island
1) Yes, Mike has his vote for what Zoe will be for Halloween.
2) Zoe can tell future career counselors this is the job she wants.

So...Mike and I decided to fuel this obsession of hers and take Zoe to the Denton Airshow last weekend. She L-O-V-E-D it. The poor thing got sunscreen in her eyes at the very beginning of the show so she screamed and cried for about 30 minutes. It was very sad. We poured water in her eyes to help rinse them out but ultimately she ended up crying it all out. Even in the midst of all the crying she still would stop, point to the sky, and yell "airplane!" every time the planes flew over.

Poor Zoe cried herself to sleep for a few minutes and then was fine when she woke up and was finally able to enjoy herself. This is her asleep with Mike.

Grandpa joined us!

Checking out the airplanes. Zoe thought they were so cool and wanted to touch them all.

She liked the smaller ones that were lower to the ground because she could reach more of the plane.

She even got to sit inside one!

Here is a little bit of the cool stuff the planes were doing in the air. Our camera isn't the easiest to use in bright light because the screen is so hard to see from the light reflection. Most of the time we were pointing the camera in the general direction hoping the plane was in frame. Forget about the correct zoom!....so the pictures don't quite do the event justice.
