The festivities started last week down in Houston. Mike couldn't get the days off work so Zoe and I picked Lisa and Travis up from the DFW airport and we drove down to Houston together. This was our first time to meet Travis and he and Zoe hit it off right away and are now best friends. I'll show you proof later in the post. We then met up with Adam and Jen for dinner in The Woodlands.
After dinner at Market Street Zoe and Adam went for a ride on a cow.
The next day were the temple endowment and bridal shower. Yay! Too bad Zoe got sick and I ended up missing it all. Zoe started the day with a temperature of 100.3. Not too bad. Then she threw up. Then her fever spiked to 102.5. I took Zoe over to Jen's house during Lisa's endowment so that she could take a nap and Jen and I could hang. The nap seemed to help Zoe but by the evening her fever spiked to 103.6 and she was getting lethargic. So I skipped out on the shower and headed over to an Emergency Room Clinic with Mike's mom (and Zoe) where they tested for strep, flu, ear infection, and UTI. It all came back negative. The doctor sent us on our way with some antibiotics in hopes that it would get rid of whatever was causing the high fever. I was pretty nervous about the unknown, but by the morning Zoe's fever had broken so I felt better and we headed back up to Dallas for the 4th of July weekend. We skipped out on all the festivities to make sure Zoe could get better quickly and it seemed to help.

In this video Zoe and Jen are each eating a popsicle and Zoe is copying Jen.
On Sunday, Lisa and Travis came up to Dallas to spend the rest of the week with us. Remember earlier when I said that Zoe and Travis are now best friends? Here's the proof:
Playing 'where's Zoe?' on the couch with pillows.
And then playing 'spider'.
Zoe making fish faces with Travis.
And here are some random pictures from the week:

Checking out the cattle drive sculpture in downtown Dallas. Travis couldn't get out of the longhorn's way quick enough.

Lisa, Travis, and I decided it would be fun to see how fast we could each run a mile. So on Wednesday morning we got up bright and early, headed over to the track, and timed ourselves. Here are the results:
I went fast at 8:14
But Travis went faster at 7:10
And Lisa went the fastest at 6:49
Here I am coming across the finish line stopping my watch.

On a side note...Zoe is sick again. She finished taking her antibiotic on Tuesday and didn't have a fever or any symptoms of illness for a few days. But on Wednesday night she threw up again and then on Thursday her temperature started to slowly creep back up. By Friday morning her temperature was back up to 102.5 so I took her in to see her pediatrician. She did all the same tests that were done the previous week at the emergency room (minus the UTI test because we didn't feel it was necessary to put Zoe through another catheter. Ouch!) and everything was negative again. The doctor explained that the antibiotic would be in Zoe's system for another 5 days after we finished giving to her (which means it runs out of her system by today (Sunday)) so she thought it was kind of odd that Zoe would get better for a few days and then get sick again. So she's having us watch Zoe really close over the weekend until the antibiotic is finished and then on Monday, if she's still sick, we'll take her back in. The highest temperature Zoe had today was 103. So she's not getting worse, but she's not really getting better. Argh.
The toy that Zoe chose to take in the car with us when we went to the store one day was this stack of flash cards. She's saying 'letter' before each letter (it sounds like she's saying yellow...but when she says yellow it sounds like 'lellow').

So sad for Zoe...that's crappy.
