Marathons!

My friend, Natalie, has twice now suggest that I log my marathon training on my blog. She said that it's motivating because I will be accountable to all of you. I've been in a running rut the past couple of weeks so I decided this is a good time to take Natalie's advice!
So I'm currently training for the Cowtown Ft. Worth Marathon which is February 27th. Natalie and her friend, Jonelle, are coming to town from Michigan to run it with me. As part my training for the Cowtown I'm going to run the Austin Marathon on February 14th. I'm running that one with Scott and Lisa. This one will be the day after John's wedding so most of our family will be there to cheer us on. I'm SO unbelievably excited about both of the marathons.

My training has been going pretty good and I've been logging a lot of miles. Except for the past two weeks. I only ran once the week that the temperatures were below freezing (but at least it was a 20 miler!) and I only ran two times last week. Last week was supposed to be an 'easy' or 'off' week and I took it very literally. :) This week will be better! Especially since I know I'll be logging my miles here for you at the end of the week. You're right Natalie, it's good motivation!

Last weeks goals:
Monday: 6 miles at 11:55/mi

Wednesday: 6 miles at 11:55/mi

Thursday: 6 miles at 11:55/mi

Saturday: 6 miles at 11:55/mi

Outcome:
Monday: 6 miles at 10:50/mi

Wednesday: 5 miles at 11:28/mi (with Zoe in the jogger)

Thursday: 0

Saturday: 0

  1. Wow! I am always amazed by your physical abilities. I walked around the track two times last week but not since. So much for that resolution.

  2. YAY! I'm glad you're blogging about it. I'm excited it read as the time ticks down! Running with a jogger is SO hard. Good for you to be motivated to go and run with the jogger!

  3. Yay for this! I can now use yours AND Natalie's blogs as my motivation. Am I EVER going to get where you are??!! Yesterday, my pace was 13:30 (in week 4 of the couch to 5k program)...I can't even think about doing a marathon yet. I'm still focused on getting to 2 miles! Ahhh!

  4. Yes, Melanie, you are still inspiring. You're becoming a marathon maniac. Did you realize that? And by the way, you ran way more than I did the past two weeks. And I can't even think about pushing a jogger on those hills. Keep up the good work!!!
