The day before the race, while waiting for Megan to arrive, the rest of us went to Kennecott. It was really cool! It's one of the largest copper mines in the world. And IT WAS HUGE! Here are Adam and Scott looking down into the mine.
This picture doesn't do it justice. Here, you are looking down into the mine. There are HUGE trucks down there that look like little dots.
This is the size of a wheel that goes on the HUGE trucks. See? I told you they are huge!
The gang. We were waiting to watch a movie about the mine. From left to right: Adam, Jen, Travis, Lisa, Me, Annie, Dad, Scott.
We saw this rainbow on the drive back to the hotel after the race. It was the first time I ever saw an entire rainbow from beginning to end. It was so cool!
This is the other side of the rainbow. Seriously, we could see where the two ends were! No pots of gold. :(
Scott!
When we got back to Dad and Janie's house the day after the race, we were joined by lots of family! Scott has his arm around Grandma and that's Grandpa smiling behind her. So cute. Oh, and Hi Annie!
Even some of Janie's kids were able to come see us! From left to right: Jen, Me, Abigail (Jefferson's wife), Jefferson (Janie's son), Cleopatra (the baby), Grandma, Lisa.
Here are Jared (Ellen's husband), Ellen (Janie's daughter), Grandma and Grandpa.
Aunt Chris and Grandpa!
Grandma and Dad!
Travis, Megan, Dad, Adam, Me, Lisa, Jen!
Later that night we all settled down to a game of Imaginiff. It was SO fun!
Oh silly Adam!
And guess what?! We were there for their first snow of the season! It snowed the night before I left. Cool! And Travis was crazy enough to go play in it...in his shorts and t-shirt!
Me, Dad, and Megan at the airport. My flight home was just about an hour after Megan's so I got to hang out with her while she waited for her flight. That was fun!
Love the report! I grew up in Midvale & never went to Kennecott. How did that happen? And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you're wearing your medals for the party. Totally deserved!
ReplyDeleteHeck yes, we wore our medals. I'm still wearing mine! Just kidding. Yes, this was a fun trip. Let's do it again and again and again! :)
