New Year's Eve Marathon

There is a new marathon in town! I'm SO, WAY excited about it because it's only about 15 minutes away from my house. AND it's a double marathon. One on New Year's Eve and one on New Year's Day. How cool is that? Soon (maybe) I will muster up enough courage to run both marathons. I think it would be really cool. And Scott says I can do it. Speaking of Scott...he came and ran the New Year's Eve marathon with me! Running with family is the VERY VERY best. One thing that Scott did that was super cool is he wore my watch for me and just paced me the whole way. I really liked that. He's a really good motivator too. He discovered that any time he told me that I was looking good and strong that I would automatically (without realizing it) speed up. So he kept the compliments coming for the whole race. :) He also ran in front of me to block the wind, held my empty cups and trash, sang Eye of the Tiger and Gonna Fly Now for me during the fourth lap, and just believed that I could DO IT!

Annie also came to visit with Scott. It was so much fun! She ran the 5k and then hung out with Mike and Zoe the rest of the time, cheering on Scott and me. My friends Kirstin (2nd marathon) and Sheri (1st marathon!) also ran the marathon and I think we'll all be back for another go at it next year.

My finish time was 4:42:04. This was not a huge marathon so guess what...I placed pretty high! I came in 63rd overall, 19th out of all the females, and 7th in my age group. Whoo-hoo!!!!

Seriously huge thank you to Scott and Annie for coming to visit and to Scott for running with me!
