We went to Zoe's Kindergarten Roundup last night. What is a kindergarten roundup you ask? Good question because we had no clue what to expect when we showed up last night! But now we're old pros and ready for this whole kindergarten thing.
The Vice Principal took all of the parents and new kindergartners on a tour of the school. It was so much fun and Zoe was SOOOO excited! We got to see the cafeteria, gym, library, computer lab, science lab, art lab, music room, and most importantly the kindergarten section. Zoe is going to have a great time and will learn LOTS! In the kindergarten section there are four classrooms all connected to each other but separated enough that they won't disturb each other. Each classroom looks amazingly awesome and fun. One of the classrooms even has two birds and a really big fish tank! I think it's pretty cool that each classroom also has two bathrooms (boy and girl). I've been worried about Zoe having to wait until it's bathroom time when the whole class goes or something like that. But it looks like she'll just be able to go when she needs to.
All of the kindergarten teachers were there and we were welcomed to ask questions and look around the rooms and closets and drawers. I'm pretty certain that I was the parent with the most questions (do the kindergartners use the computer, science, and art labs? Or do they just do those things in their classrooms? Will they eat lunch in the cafeteria with the big kids or here in the classroom? Is there a snack time? Nap/rest time? How many kids are the each class? etc.).
After we got home I asked Zoe if she wanted me to come to her school sometimes to help her teachers (PTA) and she said, "No, you can just come get me when school is over". My little girl is growing up and getting so independent!
In August there will be a 'meet the teacher' night after all the kids have been assigned to their classrooms. I'm excited for that. Actually, I'm just excited about all of this. I loved school and I really hope Zoe loves it too!
Also, here are some pictures from last Friday night. We were at the Relay for Life from 5:30pm - 10:30pm and this is what Zoe did the ENTIRE time:

Awesome. I'm so excited for Zoe! Kindergarten is definitely the best. :) Do they do nap time at her school? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Zoe had a bath that night. My first grand-baby is going to school.
ReplyDeleteIt's so crazy that they're starting kindergarten this year, right? GREAT questions. I'll have to remember those for when I finally know what school Wes will be going to. :)
