After our one night semi-camping trip in Huntsville for the Rocky Raccoon 50 miler, we decided it was not enough...we needed more camping! So when we got home Mike did a little bit of research and found out about this state park nearby in Bonham, TX. The reviews online said it's a small but super fun place to camp. Didn't take too much convincing us! So we headed out with our friends, the Kenealeys, and had a great time!

As soon as we arrived, Zoe checked out the swings. |
I checked out the swings too while reading the camp map.
There was a small lake that we could boat/canoe on and swim in. We didn't swim since the water was a little cold, but we did canoe!

Our two campsites. |

By crazy coincidence we knew the people in the campsite right next to us! It was a guy who used to be in our Stake Presidency. He was out there camping over night with some of his Boy Scouts. Well, he had some canoes with him and offered to let us use them. So nice! He really is one of the nicest people ever. So, Mike and Tyler took the kids out canoeing while Kirstin and I took the opportunity to go run on the trails. This is Rachel and Zoe.

Here is Zoe after a very cozy and good night sleep. It got pretty cold that night (for Texas...), in the low 40's. So Zoe has on a pair of pajamas under these footed pajamas plus her jacket and the hat. She was warm and slept well.

After Kirstin and I got back from running the trails, she headed out to do a few more miles on the road circling the park while Mike and I jumped on our bikes and went for a ride. It was SO MUCH FUN! |
Hottie! |
Me!
We all did a bit of this. |
Heading to the very nice showers. I will go camping here again just for the bathrooms and showers. :) |
Mike was making fun of Kirstin and I because I went to the showers with my whole suitcase but Kirstin went "Tommy Boy" style with a plastic bag. |
Gab gab gab gab....watching Mike, Tyler, and some of the kids play Bocci ball (a "lawn bowling" type game). |
Meanwhile, Zoe and Katie got buried in the sand by "The Grandma". Tyler's Mom was there with us and Zoe called her "The Grandma". Pretty funny. |
Zoe had way too much fun in the sand!
Wheee! Sand is fun!
.....and yes, she's laying face down in the dirt.
The adults had a fun game of Bocci ball. We played couple against couple. Mike and I barely came out on top. It was a close game and went down to the wire....Woo-hoo! |
Watching some hard core Horseshoe games. |
While we all were out having fun playing games and getting dirty in the sand, a squirrel was helping himself to our bread. SQUIRREL!!!
Speaking of food, we ate SO much food! We made tin foil dinners (with steak, chicken, potatoes and veggies), hot dogs, pancakes, scones, used a dutch oven to make delicious peach cobbler then later rolls--plus we grazed on bags of snacks and treats. Of course, we also ate smores, (Mike has a smores addiction problem). Are we the only ones that bring and eat 10x more food than a normal human being should eat when camping for just a couple of days?

Katie and Zoe sharing an apple. |
One bite for you, one bite for me, one bit for you...Doesn't it look like they're synchronize leaning? |
Our second and last morning there finishing up breakfast....Zoe was kind of a zombie at this point. She had so much fun! |
Whoa! Lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteFun! I bet you all loved it!
