16 Months Old!

I cannot believe that my Zoe is 16 months old. The time is flying by so fast! It seems like Zoe does something new and amazing every day. Her language is starting to develop really well. She's starting to copy the things that Mike and I say. You can't really understand what she says but it's obvious that she's trying to say a certain word. She's starting to use her own language that I oddly enough can sometimes figure out. For example, this morning she was looking around the room saying some two consonant word. I finally figured out that she was saying 'basket' and was wanting to push the laundry basket around. Awesome! I was so excited about the communication.

Speaking of the basket, she is even better at walking than she was when I made my post yesterday. She's getting more brave and willing to walk on her own more often. I really hope we won't need to do the physical therapy for very long. Mike and I found out this morning that along with the walking and being more brave comes more dangers...

I had Zoe up in the room at the top of the stairs while Mike was doing some work on that computer. We were having a conversation and the next thing we knew Zoe and the bucket that we didn't see her push out of the room were tumbling down the stairs. OH MY GOSH! We have the kind of stairs with a landing in the middle so she only went down 8 steps. Mike and I both made it to the landing right as Zoe did (I think I might have actually touched one step but pretty much jumped down the whole thing). She was pretty scared and I could barely hold her because I was shaking so bad. We didn't see her fall (we just heard it) so we don't know how she went down. But she's fine. She cried for about 10 minutes afterwards and then I took her in to the doctor to get checked out (it's worth the $15 copay for peace of mind!). The doctor tried making me feel better telling me that this happens all the time, blah blah blah...it didn't work. I'm happy that Zoe is okay. It's a good thing she has such a big, hard head!

On to more exciting stuff. Zoe is eating really well and I can tell she's getting heavier. I also finally packed away the last of her 0-3 month clothes and she's growing out of the 3-6 month stuff pretty quick. Yay! It's funny because Mike and I were just looking through all of her pictures today and we can tell that she's getting older and more mature looking (and her hair is getting long!) but she just isn't getting bigger.

The nurse weighed Zoe today and she weighed 17lbs 1oz. Just 4 more pounds and she can finally face forward in the car seat!

Oh yeah, and Zoe has 10 teeth! 6 on top and 4 on the bottom.

Here are some pictures and videos:

Having fun playing with tinker toys at Grandpa and Viki's house.

I had to get a picture of Zoe's little pig tails before her hair gets too much longer.

I think this video is kind of funny. At the beginning Zoe is watching me cut her food, then she's shaking her head no because she doesn't want it, then she starts playing around with Mike who is holding the camera.

Zoe and Lilly conspiring how to get the gate down.

Zoe LOVES corn. She can't eat it this way yet but she's sure trying!

Playing the drums and eating the drum stick.

Zoe and I met Liana and Lilly at the play place in the galleria yesterday. It's a pretty neat place but Zoe wasn't interested in the toys. Instead she pushed her stroller around the entire time. I finally prodded her away from the stroller towards the end and she played with this board for a few minutes.

Lilly came to see what was going on over at the board.

  1. I'm glad she's growing and progressing! That's so great!

That play place at the Galleria can be CRAZY with all the kids there. It's probably not as bad now that it's starting to cool down outside a bit. (At least I'm assuming it is there b/c it is here.)

    Miss you guys!
