17 Months Old!

Zoe is 17 months old today. Yay! Only three more Sunday's until she goes into the nursery (and one of those Sundays is Stake Conference!). It's not that I'm counting or anything...hehe...it's just that I kind of miss Sunday School and Relief Society. So here are some completely random things (and pictures) about Zoe: She has 12 teeth. She did 4 weeks of physical therapy (plus the evaluation week) and is now exactly where she should be in her motor skills for her age. Zoe isn't a risk taker so we think she just needed to be shown how to walk, stand, and squat, and gain the confidence to do it. Now she's a force to be reckoned with. She runs around everywhere and climbs on top and under everything. I love taking her to the play area at the mall now because she can actually run around and play and climb on top of things. These are some pictures of Zoe and her friends that she usually hangs with. In the bottom picture are (from left to right) Zayn, Lilly, Zoe, and Madyson. Madyson and Zayn are bro. and sis. She tries copying everything we say. Sometimes she says the word correctly but most of the time it's just a grunt or something. For example, when I tell her what color something is she'll repeat it by saying something like 'unh'. It's really kind of funny. Zoe has learned how to say 'no'. I try not to say it to her too much because I want it to mean something when I do have to say it (like when she's about to throw something into the toilet). But she does know what it means. Most of the time she'll shake her head 'no' but every once in a while she'll say 'No!' and then throw something. After that happens Mike and I are usually hiding our faces in a pillow or something so Zoe can't see us laughing. Temper tantrums have begun. It's SO not bad though. Zoe is a really laid back girl and doesn't get upset a whole lot but there have been a few times where she just gets so frustrated that she starts crying. So I just hug or hold her and help her with whatever she's frustrated with and then she's fine. She does this really funny thing where she walks with her hands behind her back as if she's pacing and contemplating a decision. I'll try really hard to get it on video. It's hilarious. I often see Zoe putting her head on the ground with her butt up in the air as if she's going to do a somersault. I'll also try to get that on video. She runs really fast to the door when I say we're going bye-bye. She LOVES to go out! She also runs away from me when I say it's time to change her diaper. I usually have to chase her down and tackle her which then turns into fits of laughter. Funny story for those of you still reading: Last weekend we were at Krista's house (Mike's sis.) watching the BYU vs. Utah State football game. I was putting Zoe to sleep in a pack and play in the guest bedroom. So I laid Zoe down and thought she was asleep. But I wanted to make sure so I laid down on the bed to wait. I was on my stomach with my feet hanging off the bed. Zoe had been talking to herself a little bit when I laid down but then all of a sudden it got really quiet and I thought she had fallen asleep. Then all of a sudden I heard a very worried "Mom?!". I sat up and Zoe was standing in the bed looking at me with a 'What's going on?' look on her face. So I picked her up and rocked her to sleep. It was SO sweet.......'Mom?!'. The above picture is really funny. If you look really closely you can see Zoe's cousin, Emma, on the other side of the door. Emma was supposed to be taking a nap but Zoe kept going over there to see what was going on. I could hear Emma giving Zoe instructions on how to open the door to let her out and she was also sliding books under the door for Zoe. It was SO funny.
Jacob (Zoe's cousin...Emma's bro.) and Zoe.

This is a video of Zoe and Jacob playing cars. In the background you can hear Emma pleading to be let out of her room (she's still supposed to be taking a nap...this is just minutes after I took the picture of Zoe at Emma's door).

  1. I am with you there, I love when the kids go to nursery. I think that the 1 year to 18 month mark is the hardest at church. Those are very cute pictures.
