Lisa's Trip to Dallas - Part 1

My sister, Lisa, came to visit us last week! We always have so much fun when she comes. In fact, about once a day since she left Zoe out of nowhere asks, “Where’s Lisa?” or “Where did Lisa go?”. They really had a lot of fun together. We hope you come back soon, Lisa!

This is a picture of the Bank of America Bldg in downtown Dallas I took while we were waiting for Mike to come down on the elevator. Lisa, Zoe, and I picked him up early from work Tuesday on our way down to Cameron to see my Mom and the farm. You can see my ghostly hands in the sunroof….probably should have opened it up first :)

Some of the goats had babies the weekend before we got there. Zoe loved petting them. But interestingly, she liked the mama’s more than the babies. It was funny because she chased those big goats around and didn't even bother with the babies.

Checking out the goat and kids in their trailer.

Mike and Zoe chilling and watching goats. It started off chilly but got pretty warm…Mike is wishing he had been smart like Zoe and brought some water.

Zoe loved to watch the hens. My mom taught her how to feed them grass through the holes in the cage. She LOVED that.

Playing with my grandpa’s new dog.

This is one of the new baby goats. It was born super small and needed to be bottle fed. At one point my Aunt Lisa was having to force the milk down the kid’s throat by rubbing on it. Interesting. It really reminded me a cute little runt that I know pretty well. She was born super small, had to be bottle fed, and needed help sucking (we had to hold Zoe’s chin up and squeeze her cheeks in to help her suck for about the first 10 months).

My Aunt Lisa had new baby kittens (well, her cat had new kittens). I’m pretty sure this was Zoe’s first time to play with cats. As with all the other animals…she LOVED it.

I love this picture of Lisa and Zoe.

John doing some work on the tractor.

Video of John and Mike bringing some dirt in for one of my mom’s flower beds. I like how Mike tries to counterbalance the weight by standing on the back.

My turn with the tractor. Mike and I took turns driving the tractor with John down to a ravine to scoop up dirt. John would then drive the tractor back when it was loaded with dirt in case the tractor started to tip or roll because he was more experienced. It was lots of fun for us city slickers to have a meager exposure to farm living.......but it's nice to get back to Dallas :)

Getting ready for the bonfire. We had smores and sat around sharing stories and laughs. We struggled to keep the fire going during the cold night because a lot of the wood was damp; so we each took turns fanning the dying flames or dousing the blaze with lighter fluid. Zoe loves smores and was so covered in marshmallow and chocolate I could have carried her inside by sticking her on my back.

Zoe playing catch with my mom’s dog, Lucy.

Video of Zoe playing catch with Lucy. This was the first time Zoe had ever played catch with a dog. The camera ran out of memory during this video, but Zoe continued playing catch and talking with Lucy. It was a Kodak moment.....too bad it lasted too long to video..

I saved the best video for last. Here’s the background on what was happening: one of the bull’s got out of the pasture. The plan was for Mike to drive the truck on the right side of the bull, John was running on the left side ‘hiya-ing’ at him (couldn’t hear that over the noise from the truck"). And since Lisa had red on, her job was to be in front of the bull to guide him to the gate (that part was kind of a joke though, we didn’t really expect what happened to really happen!). Everything was going pretty smoothly, the truck was going slow, John was at a jog, the bull was walking, and Lisa was still safe. Then all of a sudden the bull took off towards Lisa and that’s when I turned the camera on…

  4. OMG That was so funny. I didn't here about Jackson getting out until I watched this video. I wasn't worried about Lisa at all, she could outrun him easy :)
