Many of you know that I'm training for my first marathon (November 15th is the big day!). I've been training hard core, logging almost 30 miles a week. That's a lot....well, I think so anyways.
Well, check this out:
There is this guy, George Chmiel, who will be running the 155 mile Sahara Race on October 25th. 155 miles! In the hot desert! Makes my marathon seem simple.
Well, what caught my eye about this guy is that he is running to raise awareness for the MAGIC Foundation. Yay! That's the foundation for kids with growth disorders...the one who gives us all our information for Zoe's Russell Silver Syndrome.

I'm glad you mentioned when you were running your marathon because I've been wondering! 30 miles IS a lot! That's really awesome. You'll be so more than ready to run it if you're already doing 30 miles a week and it's still about 6 weeks away. Go you! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That's really inspirational--especially considering the fact that he's only been running marathons for two years. And this is 155 miles! Just think of him while you're running your first marathon! Enjoy your last weeks of training.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your 1st marathon and just remember pain is temporary...but failure is forever. Keep telling yourself that when the pains kicks in hard on the homestretch. It's quite an accomplishment and something you'll remember forever so enjoy the experience as much as you can.
ReplyDeleteThank you for running to raise awareness and also money for the convention! I'm a parent of a child with severe IGH and my son is totally awed that someone is going to try to run across the Sahara Desert so that people can get helped to understand and to be able to meet other kids who know what it is like. I'll bet there are a whole bunch of face book challenged people out there who could not figure out how to leave a message on your site, or were blocked by their security. (I think that's why I could not even find the, er, wall?)I'm posting here because it looks like it will work - here's hoping, and know that we are pulling for you and admiring your effort. - CW
