Labor of Love 5k

On Labor Day, I ran a 5k that was sponsored by my brother-in-law's dermatology practice.  I haven't run a 5k in over a year and my goal was just to do better than my previous 5k time (29 minutes-ish).  It was HOT that day (upper 80s during the race).  But I was running with my friend, Kirstin (she's pretty darn fast), so I just tried to stick with her as long as I could.  I was able to stay with her for the first half but then she started to pull away.  She did great and came in about a minute and a half before me.  She got first place in our age group and I got third!  Yay!  I have never placed in a race before and it was FUN!
(my time was 27:28)

Mike and Zoe were helping Dr. Ralston man the booth and also cheer for me.

Getting my medal.  I was the ONLY person who did this.  So embarrassing.  Was I the only excited person?  Or am I just really that nerdy?  I think the latter.

This was so cool because I get a medal every time I run a marathon....but everyone gets a medal.  In 5k's, only the top three finishers overall and the top three in each age group gets medals.  Cool!

Thanks Dr. Ralston for sponsoring us!

  3. Hi! I just found your blog through the Magic Foundation. And I just want to say "thank you" for blogging about your sweet little girl. Our daughter has suspected RSS and it's so nice to be able to look back at your daughter and see similarities (their stats are so similar!). It helps to know we're finally on the right path toward figuring out why our girl is so tiny! It's also nice to see Zoe doing so well on GH. So, thank you! Now, for this post...

Yeah!! Great job on your race..you definitely deserved to cheer!!! :)
