Visit to the Endocrinologist

Last Wednesday I took Zoe to see her new Endocrinologist here in Dallas. Just like the visit to the Geneticist, we didn't really learn anything new. It was just kind of a meet and great, get to know you type of visit. Something good that came out of the visit though is that this doctor wants to start moving forward with more testing and then hopefully we'll be able to fine tune how we can help Zoe grow. She took a blood sample from Zoe on Wednesday (that was NOT fun) to test all of the same things we tested a year ago in Charlotte. Why do it again? Zoe is older now and the labs might come up with new information for us. This doctor also wants to do a sweat test on Zoe to see if she has cystic fibrosis. The doctor doesn't think Zoe has it but just wants to rule it out. We are also going to do an MRI. We did a CT scan a year ago to check for growths in Zoe's head (this was before she was diagnosed with RSS and all we were seeing was a really big head on a really small body). Now that Zoe's brain is more developed the doctor would like to do an MRI so that she can see the pituitary glands better. Once Zoe turns 2 we will seriously consider starting Growth Hormone treatment (the doctor didn't mention that during this visit because I get the impression she wants that to be a 'last option' type thing. That's good. But Mike and I are prepared mentally that we might have to do it). Until then, we're going to rule out all other causes for Zoe being so small and maybe even find little ways to help her grow.

Here are her stats as of last Wednesday:
Weight: 14lbs. 8oz.
Height: 26.5"
Head Circ: 18.5"

The above pictures is of Zoe in the waiting room at the doctor's office (it's at the Children's Medical Center of Dallas). Also, here are some random videos from when Lisa was here the past 2 weeks. I have lots of videos and pictures to add so be on the lookout for more!

Please let me through the gate!

  1. Hot race pictures! Sorry for the eventual MRI. Aren't those like 20 minutes long of being completely still (or is that the CT)? Neither sounds fun for a baby.
